f there is a place on earth that can turn a wedding into poetry that place is the Amalfi Coast. The exact spot where that magic feels almost effortless is Ravello. When I think about my work as a Ravello wedding photographer I think of Andy and Jess’s celebration, at the Belmond Hotel Caruso.
The hills turned into a veil of fog on this September day. The sun came up. Then went down. The sea played hide and seek beyond the horizon. The wedding made a mysterious atmosphere. The atmosphere felt perfect, for storytelling.
A ceremony floating between sea, sky, and mist
The ceremony took place in the hotel garden and the couple closest friends stood around the around them. The ceremony felt familiar, warm, joyful exactly the kind of energy weddings give. Every now and then the sea vanished behind the fog then the sea came back, as a backdrop. Nature itself seemed to act along with the ceremony.
A red convertible, winding hills, and hidden viewpoints
After the ceremony we took off in a convertible and drove the curvy roads around Ravello. Each bend showed a viewpoint the terrace or a patch of the cliffside. We stopped to take portraits that looked like a fashion editorial. The portraits felt natural, romantic and true, to the subjects. The mist softened the landscape and gave each frame a look.
An elegant dinner to close the day
The celebration ended in one of the Hotel Caruso’s indoor salon, the perfect ending closed the wedding that seemed to stop time.
We love working as a Ravello wedding photographer because each wedding here feel unique with its own vibes, sometimes we get Dolce Vita summer vibes with saturated yellows and blues, other times we get nostalgic vibes. Our answer is that your photos need to be timeless, the colors and contrasts and the general look must It must withstand the passage of time. Your photos must look beautiful today and also in 20 years. This is why we avoid temporary trends like out of focus and blurred images. In 20 years you want a proper photo of your shoes and not a blurred photo because they will no longer be only photos but precious memories
