If you're dreaming of a wedding that blends history, magic, and impeccable Italian hospitality, Castello di Rosciano is one of those places that steals your heart the moment you walk in—and never gives it back. Nestled in the green hills of Umbria, just outside Perugia, this medieval gem has everything you need to host a destination wedding that feels straight out of a movie (the romantic kind, obviously). In our top 5 of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria

1. The Medieval Atmosphere You Can’t Fake

Castello di Rosciano simply oozes charm.
There’s something irresistible about its ancient stone walls and sweeping hilltop views—but the real magic kicks in after sunset. A medieval courtyard becomes the perfect stage for an elegant al fresco dinner.

This is the kind of setting where the atmosphere does half the storytelling for you.

2. Plenty of Onsite Rooms for a Full Wedding Weekend

One of the big perks? You can bring everyone with you.
The castle offers a generous number of rooms, ideal for hosting a large group of family and friends. No need for complicated transfers or shuttles—your guests get to relax, settle in, and enjoy a full wedding experience together. It’s essentially a private village for a weekend.

3. A Professional Permanent Kitchen (And Epic Aperitivi)

Umbrian cuisine is already something special, but here it truly shines.
The venue has a permanent, fully equipped kitchen, which is a blessing for quality, timing, and food consistency. And let’s talk about the aperitivo buffet: not only is it huge, but it’s famously one of the most abundant and delicious in the region. Think regional cheeses, local cured meats, fresh bruschette, handcrafted delicacies—the kind of spread that makes your guests say “okay, we’re moving to Italy.”

4. Strong Plan B Options for Bad Weather

Italy is beautiful, but as we all know, the weather occasionally loves drama.
Castello di Rosciano comes prepared with two different indoor alternatives—and one of them is impressively spacious. Whether you’re hosting 50 or 300 guests, you won’t be forced into a cramped emergency space. It’s reassuring to know that your event will look stunning no matter what the forecast says.

5. A Tiny, Beautiful Church for Religious or Civil Ceremonies

Inside the property sits a charming small church—simple, intimate, and incredibly atmospheric. It’s the perfect place for a religious ceremony, but the great news is that it can also host legal civil weddings, making the entire day beautifully self-contained. No extra transfers, no rushing around. Just you, your partner, and the gentle silence of centuries-old stones.

6. A Family-Run Venue With Genuine Passion

So many venues are gorgeous, but what really makes a place unforgettable is the people behind it. Castello di Rosciano is family-owned and family-run, and you can feel it instantly. They care deeply about the property, the guest experience, and every detail of the weddings they host. That warmth and dedication translate into a smoother planning process—and a happier you on the big day. One of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria

This is a stunning venue, so big and incredible inside and outside. If you want to wow your guests and leave them speechless, this is the place for you

Why Choose Castello di Solfagnano for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

Castello di Solfagnano isn’t just a venue—it’s an experience. Set among rolling Umbrian hills north of Perugia, this stunning historical residence blends vintage charm with contemporary elegance, creating a setting that feels both cinematic and sophisticated. If you’re planning a large destination wedding in Umbria, this property should absolutely be on your radar. One of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria if you are having a large group

1. Elegant Interiors: Vintage Charm Meets Modern Style

One of the most striking things about Castello di Solfagnano is its beautifully curated interiors. Many rooms feature vintage décor, frescoes, and that irresistible old-world charm you only find in Italian historic estates. At the same time, other areas are sleek, modern, and refined—creating a perfect visual balance.

This mix gives you endless creative freedom for photos, design, and guest experiences.

2. A Massive Estate With Endless Spaces to Play With

Calling this place “big” is an understatement.
The castle includes multiple saloons, gardens, terraces, reception halls, and lounging areas. It truly feels like having an entire private estate to yourself for the weekend. Whether you’re planning a welcome dinner, pool party, rehearsal event, or a multi-space flow for the wedding day, the venue makes it possible.

3. Onsite Accommodation for Large Groups

Castello di Solfagnano is ideal if you’re bringing a large crowd.
The property offers plenty of rooms to host big groups comfortably. This turns your wedding into a proper retreat, where guests can enjoy the venue, socialize, relax, and settle in without the stress of commuting.

4. No Permanent Kitchen — A Caterer is Essential

Unlike other Umbrian castles, Solfagnano doesn’t have an in-house kitchen.
This means you’ll need to hire an external caterer—but don’t worry, the area is full of exceptional catering companies used to working at the property. This also gives you more freedom to customize menus, styles, and food formats.

(And yes, your aperitivo will still be the star of the show—you’re in Umbria!)

5. Exceptional Plan B Options for Bad Weather

This is where the castle really shines.
Several of the indoor rooms are massive, elegant, and perfect for large receptions. If rain decides to make a dramatic entrance, you can easily move dinner or the ceremony indoors without compromising style or space.

In short: your wedding will still look incredible—even if the weather has a plot twist.

6. Hiring a Wedding Planner is Highly Recommended

This venue is stunning, but also big, complex, and logistically rich. Coordinating multiple spaces, an external catering team, guest accommodation, and event flow is much smoother with a professional planner involved. Many couples planning destination weddings here rely on a wedding planner to bring the whole vision together seamlessly.

7. A Gorgeous Infinity Pool for Pre- and Post-Wedding Relaxation

If you love the idea of a relaxed gathering before or after the wedding, the estate includes an incredible infinity pooloverlooking the countryside. It’s perfect for a welcome cocktail, a chilled brunch, or a refreshing dip with your guests.

8. An Onsite Winery for Wine Lovers

Wine enthusiasts, rejoice.
The castle has its own beautiful winery, giving the entire property an even more authentic Umbrian character. Tastings, vineyard walks, or custom bottles for your guests can easily become part of your wedding experience.

9. Best for Large Weddings (100+ Guests)

This is not the ideal venue for small or intimate weddings.
The property’s scale, the size of its rooms, and the overall feel make it perfect for big celebrations, ideally with 100 guests or more. If you’re planning something grand, energetic, and immersive, Solfagnano is absolutely your place.

5. Borgo Colognola

A real rural borgo close to Perugia

When looking for the best Wedding Venues in Umbria you should consider this one. If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels intimate, authentic, and immersed in nature—but still close to a major Umbrian city—Borgo Colognola is a gem you shouldn’t overlook. Tucked away in a peaceful valley just outside Perugia, this lovingly restored medieval borgo is perfect for couples seeking rustic elegance, sweeping countryside views, and a relaxed atmosphere for their destination celebration.

1. A Hidden Oasis Just Minutes From Perugia

One of the biggest surprises about Borgo Colognola is its location:
so close to Perugia’s city centre, yet so deeply immersed in countryside silence.
Set in a natural valley filled with forests, olives, and rolling green hills, the property feels miles away from the world. Your guests get the peace and beauty of the Umbrian countryside with the convenience of having an international airport and a vibrant city just around the corner.

2. Plenty of Rooms for Large Groups

The borgo offers numerous apartments and suites, making it ideal for hosting a full wedding weekend. The layout encourages guests to mingle, relax, and enjoy the property as a shared home—perfect for building that warm destination-wedding atmosphere.

3. No Permanent Kitchen, but Excellent Catering Options

Borgo Colognola does not have an in-house kitchen, but the owners have curated a list of trusted local caterers known for exceptional Umbrian cuisine.
This gives you flexibility in menu style while ensuring quality and professionalism. Whether you want a rustic feast or a refined multi-course dinner, you’ll find the perfect match.

4. Multiple Spaces for Stunning Outdoor Dinners

When it comes to dinner al fresco, this venue is a dream.
There are two main outdoor areas where you can set up your reception—both atmospheric, both surrounded by nature.

The Plan B indoor option for dinner is nice and suitable for medium-sized groups, while the Plan B for the ceremony is more intimate (great for small gatherings, but tight for very large guest lists).
If you’re planning a big wedding, it’s smart to consider a symbolic ceremony outdoors or off-site if the weather looks dramatic.

5. A Tiny Historic Church

The property also features a very small, charming church, perfect for intimate religious moments or symbolic blessings. It adds a layer of authenticity and timeless beauty to the estate.

6. A Venue We Know Deeply and Love

We’ve been photographing weddings here for years—literally since the very first event they hosted. Today, we return 6–7 times each season, and every time it feels like coming home.

There’s something magical about the atmosphere:

  • the way the sun filters through the trees at sunset

  • the warm dust of the countryside glowing in the golden hour

  • the relaxed pace of the location

  • and those dinners al fresco, always framed by fairy lights and nature, always gorgeous on camera

It consistently delivers that soft, authentic Umbrian charm couples are looking for.

7. Ideal Climate in Summer (But Pack a Shawl for Spring or Late September)

In the heart of summer, Borgo Colognola enjoys perfect outdoor temperatures—warm days and beautifully comfortable evenings.
However, if your wedding is in late September or April, plan on slightly cooler evenings. A shawl, blanket basket, or outdoor heaters can make dinner al fresco more pleasant for your guests.

6. Villa Pianciani

If we think of a hidden gem in Umbria we think of this villa. A decadent charme with amazing interiors and iconic views

Why Choose Villa Pianciani for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

If you're dreaming of an Italian wedding surrounded by art, architecture, wine country, and some of the most enchanting hilltop towns in central Italy, Villa Pianciani is one of those rare venues that feels straight out of a novel. Elegant, historic, scenographic, and set within one of Umbria’s most beautiful areas, this villa offers a truly unforgettable backdrop for a destination wedding.

Not often mentioned as one of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria but this one stole our hearts.

Aerial view of the table setting at Villa Pianciani in Umbria. Photo by Rellini art studio wedding photographer in Umbria

1. A Breathtaking Location Near Spoleto and the Sagrantino Wine Valley

Few venues enjoy such an extraordinary setting. Villa Pianciani is located just outside Spoleto, one of Umbria’s most beautiful and culturally rich towns. But that’s only the beginning.

Within a short drive you also have:

  • the Sagrantino wine valley around Montefalco

  • the olive-covered slopes of Trevi

  • the picture-perfect lanes of Spello

  • and the spiritual, timeless charm of Assisi

For your guests, it’s paradise: wine tastings, medieval towns, gourmet food, art, and sweeping countryside views everywhere you look.

2. Stunning Historic Interiors That Tell a Story

Villa Pianciani is not just a venue—it’s a masterpiece.
The interiors date back centuries and are filled with period architecture, frescoes, symmetrical lines, and elegant details that feel like stepping inside an Italian painting.

These rooms bring effortless class to:

  • getting-ready moments

  • indoor portraits

  • cocktail flows

  • and any elegant pre-wedding events

If you’re looking for a venue with real history and soul, this villa delivers in every corner.

3. No Permanent Kitchen — Catering Required

The villa does not have an on-site kitchen, so an external caterer is essential.
This is quite common among historical estates in Umbria, and it gives you flexibility to choose the menu style you prefer—regional, contemporary, traditional, or something bold and creative.

Local caterers are familiar with the venue and can create seamless food service for both intimate and large weddings.

4. Solid Plan B Options for Rain

Umbria loves sunshine, but just in case the weather has other ideas, Villa Pianciani provides a good indoor Plan B. Several elegant rooms can be transformed into a beautiful backup setting for the dinner or ceremony, without losing atmosphere or style.

Having a reliable rain plan is essential—especially for destination weddings—and this villa checks that box with ease.

5. A Wedding Planner Is Highly Recommended

Villa Pianciani is stunning, but it's also big, historic, and logistically sophisticated. Coordinating the flow of events, rooms, transports, suppliers, and guest experience benefits enormously from having a professional wedding planner.

A planner will help you:

  • manage the catering team

  • optimize the use of indoor/outdoor spaces

  • coordinate suppliers

  • design the layout

  • and ensure the day runs smoothly from start to finish

In short: this is a venue where a planner is not optional—it’s a lifesaver.

  • Our Experience at Villa Piaciani

We love working here because this place has so many spots that look stunning and they are so perfect to create photography that feels luxury, refined and classy. But the light is also amazing with sun setting behind the dinner area create such a magic atmosphere

1. Beautiful Outdoor Spaces Perfect for Each Moment of Your Wedding

One of the biggest strengths of this venue is its variety of dedicated outdoor spaces, each with its own atmosphere:

  • The main courtyard → ideal for an elegant dinner al fresco surrounded by historic architecture

  • The shaded garden → a perfect spot for cocktails and aperitivi

  • A ceremony area near the vineyards → intimate, romantic, and reachable through a scenic walk among the vines

That walk alone is a photographer’s dream: all your guests moving together downhill, laughing, chatting, living the moment—it creates natural, candid images you’ll love forever.

2. Elegant Rooms and Interiors for a Refined Experience

The relais features beautifully decorated rooms, cozy lounges, and elegant interior spaces that add charm to the guest stay and provide lovely backdrops for getting ready, detail shots, and indoor portraits.

This is one of those venues where the interiors genuinely elevate the overall wedding aesthetic.

3. Permanent Kitchen for Excellent Culinary Quality

Unlike many historical venues in Umbria, Relais Monte Solare has a fully equipped permanent kitchen.
This means:

Your guests will enjoy a refined dining experience without the logistics of external catering.

4. Plan B Options Are Not Its Strongest Point

While the outdoor spaces are gorgeous, the indoor Plan B is more limited.
If you’re planning your wedding here, it’s especially important to:

  • choose a season with higher chances of good weather

  • discuss tenting solutions with your planner

  • keep an eye on your guest count to ensure indoor spaces remain comfortable

This venue truly shines when the celebration stays outdoors.

5. A Stunning Wellness Area With a Modern Indoor Pool

One of the unique perks of Relais Monte Solare is its wellness area, complete with:

  • a modern indoor swimming pool

  • spa facilities

  • a sleek contemporary design

It’s a beautiful place to relax with guests before or after the wedding, and it adds an extra touch of luxury to your wedding weekend.

6. Quiet Surroundings With Few Nearby Attractions

The relais sits in a serene countryside area with little to visit in the immediate surroundings.
For many couples, this is actually part of the charm—your guests aren’t distracted by day trips and can instead fully enjoy the venue and the wedding atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, slow-paced setting, Monte Solare is an excellent fit.

8. Castello Borgia

Stunning architecture by the Trasimeno Lake

Why Choose Castello Borgia for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

If you're dreaming of a wedding venue that blends medieval charm, breathtaking views, and the relaxed freedom of a private Airbnb stay, Castello Borgia is a hidden gem overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Elegant yet welcoming, scenic yet intimate, this castle offers a unique wedding experience that feels authentically Umbrian from sunrise to sunset.

Not usually mentioned as one of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria but definitely worth to be considered if you want great impact at a low cost.

1. A Castle With Stunning Interiors and Sunset Views on Lake Trasimeno

Castello Borgia is breathtaking inside and out.
The interiors combine historical charm with refined details—perfect for photos, getting-ready moments, and indoor gatherings. But the real magic happens at sunset, when the castle looks out over Lake Trasimeno. The golden light, the calm water, the Umbrian hills in the distance… it’s an unforgettable setting for a ceremony or cocktail hour.

For couples who want a romantic atmosphere, this location delivers effortlessly.

2. Surprisingly Affordable as an Airbnb Rental

Even though it looks like a grand medieval fortress, Castello Borgia can be rented at a surprisingly reasonable costthrough Airbnb. This makes it incredibly appealing for destination weddings where you want exclusivity, privacy, and character—without an overwhelming venue fee.

You get the castle. You get the views. You get the entire atmosphere—all to yourselves.

3. Few Guest Rooms, but All of Them Are Gorgeous

The castle offers only a limited number of rooms, so it’s not designed to host large groups onsite.
But the rooms it does have? They’re spectacular—full of charm, style, and history. Your closest family or wedding party will enjoy a boutique-style stay, while the rest of your guests can choose from countless nearby accommodations around the lake.

4. A Pool and Plenty of Beautiful Areas for Relaxing and Photography

The estate includes a lovely swimming pool and several intimate outdoor spaces. They’re ideal for:

  • pre-wedding gatherings

  • morning coffee moments

  • small after-parties

  • and (from a photographer’s point of view) endless beautiful backgrounds

From terraces to gardens to interior halls, you’ll have a rich variety of locations to use throughout the day.

5. A Full DIY Wedding: You Must Hire All Your Vendors

Castello Borgia is mainly an accommodation, not a traditional event venue.
This means you will need to hire:

  • a catering company

  • furniture and décor

  • lighting

  • bar service

  • sound systems

  • and all additional wedding suppliers

The upside? You get total flexibility. You can design the wedding exactly the way you envision it.

6. Perfect Position for Sightseeing and Guest Activities

The castle sits in one of Umbria’s most popular areas:

  • Lake Trasimeno, famous for its islands, beaches, and watersports

  • Perugia, just a short drive away and perfect for art, culture, and nightlife

Your guests can easily enjoy boat trips, wine tastings, small medieval towns, and sunset walks—making the wedding feel like a full Italian holiday.

7. A Helpful Owner – But Still Hire a Wedding Planner

Julie, the owner, is known for being extremely helpful, especially with:

  • introductions to local suppliers

  • logistical tips

  • property insights

  • coordination suggestions

However, since Castello Borgia requires hiring many external services, we highly recommend bringing a wedding planner or at least a day-of coordinator.
A professional will:

  • manage vendor arrivals

  • coordinate catering and rentals

  • set up the event flow

  • troubleshoot unexpected issues

  • and allow you to fully enjoy your day

1. A Stunning Main Building and a Courtyard Made for Al Fresco Dinners

The centerpiece of this venue is its beautiful historic main building.
But the real magic happens in the courtyard—a dreamy, intimate space where you can host your dinner al frescounder the soft glow of string lights and the Umbrian sky.

Watching the sun set through the courtyard’s stone arch is unforgettable. And if you love the idea of drone photos? This venue is a dream. The architecture, layout, and surrounding hilltop scenery all look breathtaking from above.

2. Guest Accommodation in Charming Apartments

Borgo Bastia Creti offers several apartments scattered around the estate, giving your guests a relaxed and homey stay. The layout encourages mingling while also ensuring privacy—ideal for a full wedding-weekend vibe.

3. No Permanent Kitchen — A Caterer Is Needed

Since the venue does not have an on-site kitchen, you’ll need to hire an external food catering service.
This gives you the flexibility to choose:

  • the cuisine style

  • menu format

  • presentation and timing

Umbrian caterers are used to working at outdoor venues and can deliver a fantastic dining experience.

4. Weak Plan B: A Marquee May Be Necessary

As stunning as the courtyard is, the indoor Plan B options are limited.
To avoid stress if rain arrives, many couples choose to:

  • hire a marquee or tent

  • plan strategically with their coordinator

  • keep an eye on seasonal weather patterns

This venue truly shines in good weather, so having a solid backup is essential.

5. A Wedding Day Coordinator Is Highly Recommended

Because the venue requires external suppliers and has multiple accommodation units, we strongly recommend hiring a wedding day coordinator (or a full planner if desired).
A coordinator will help with:

  • logistics

  • catering setup

  • guest flow

  • transport between areas

  • timeline management

You get to relax, enjoy, and soak in the beauty of the day while someone else handles the details.

6. Quiet Surroundings With Little to Visit

Borgo Bastia Creti is ideal if you want privacy, tranquility, and nature.
The surrounding area doesn’t offer much in terms of sightseeing—so this venue works best for couples who envision a slower, peaceful wedding weekend centered around the borgo itself.

7. Incredible Hilltop Views and Magical Sunset Light

The borgo sits on a small, perfectly positioned hill, offering sweeping views of the valley below. It creates a wonderful feeling of isolation—not too far away, but beautifully removed from the noise of daily life.

Photographically, it is a goldmine:

  • sunset hits the courtyard arch dramatically

  • the golden light wraps the stone walls

  • the hilltop perspective gives a sense of grandeur

  • drone shots look absolutely incredible from every angle

For couples who value photography as a major part of the day, this venue is a standout.

10. Niki’s Resort

Cosy and authentic

Why Choose Niki’s Resort for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

Niki’s Resort is one of those places where modern boutique style meets ancient Umbrian charm. Perched on a hilltop with jaw-dropping valley views, it offers a relaxed, warm, and contemporary atmosphere—perfect for couples looking for an elegant yet youthful destination wedding venue in Umbria.

Over the last years this name rose up in the lists of best Wedding Venues in Umbria for a reason

1. The Passion of the Young Owner Shines in Every Detail

The biggest reason to choose Niki’s Resort?
The love and dedication Matteo the young owner puts into the property.
You feel it everywhere: in the design choices, the hospitality, the atmosphere, and the constant desire to make the guest experience better every season.

This human touch makes the venue feel personal and genuinely cared for—something you can’t manufacture.

2. Plenty of Rooms to Host Large Groups

The resort offers a good number of comfortable, stylish rooms, making it ideal for destination weddings where you want your guests to stay together on-site.
It gives the whole event a long-weekend holiday vibe, where everyone relaxes, connects, and enjoys the Umbrian countryside.

3. A Permanent Kitchen With Outstanding Chefs

This is truly a highlight.
Niki’s Resort has an excellent in-house kitchen, and it’s honestly one of the places where we eat the best wedding food in all of Umbria.

Expect:

  • high-quality ingredients

  • refined dishes

  • modern twists on Umbrian cuisine

  • beautiful presentation

  • seamless service

It’s a huge advantage not to rely on external catering—and your guests will remember the meal.

4. Breathtaking Views and Unforgettable Sunsets

Niki’s Resort sits on a hill with a panoramic view of the valleys below, giving you sunsets that feel almost unreal.
The scenery alone creates magic:

  • golden hour portraits

  • outdoor cocktails overlooking the hills

  • warm summer dinners under the sky

It’s one of the venue’s most memorable features.

5. Decent Plan B for Dinner, But Ceremony Backup Is Limited

While there is a nice indoor option for the wedding dinner, the ceremony Plan B isn’t the strongest.
If rain decides to show up, the ceremony setup might require creativity—or moving indoors in a more compact space.

This is one of those venues where having a wedding planner or coordinator can help massively with layout, timing, and rain strategies.

6. The Old Church Turned Into a Cool Disco

Talk about unique.
The resort’s old church has been fully transformed into a stylish private disco, creating the perfect spot for dancing, late-night drinks, and unforgettable party moments.

It’s atmospheric, fun, and a huge hit with guests who love to celebrate into the night without worrying about noise restrictions.

  • Our experience at Niki’s Resort

We return here 4–5 times a year, and the vibe is always fantastic. As photographers, we see all the behind-the-scenes: the chefs in the kitchen, the staff setting the tables, the team coordinating the timeline, the people preparing the ceremony. And every single time, we’re greeted by professionals who work with a genuine smile. It may sound simple, but trust us—it’s not something you find everywhere

11. Casa Bruciata

A mountain resort perfect for intimate couples on a budget

Why Choose Casa Bruciata for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

Casa Bruciata is one of those charming Umbrian hideaways that instantly wins you over with its raw beauty, warm hospitality, and breathtaking views. Perfect for couples planning an intimate or medium-sized destination wedding on a budget, this venue offers authenticity, nature, and comfort without compromising on atmosphere.

1. A Remote Location With an Incredible Valley View

Casa Bruciata sits in a beautifully isolated area, perched high on a mountain with a wide, cinematic view of the valley below.
If you’re dreaming of a peaceful, private setting away from noise and crowds, this place delivers serenity in every direction.

The surrounding landscape is also fantastic for photography: rolling hills, golden light, and pure Umbrian countryside charm.

2. Permanent Kitchen Serving Delicious Local Recipes

One of the highlights of this venue is its on-site kitchen, where the team prepares traditional local dishes with fresh, regional ingredients.
You get all the benefits of:

  • authentic Umbrian flavors

  • reliable service

  • freshly prepared meals

  • no need to hire an external caterer

It’s a practical and tasty advantage, especially for destination weddings.

3. A Good Plan B for Dinner, Less Ideal for the Ceremony

Casa Bruciata offers a solid indoor Plan B for the dinner—usually hosted inside the glass house.
The ceremony backup, however, is more limited and may feel tight for larger groups.

If you’re planning a non-summer wedding, it’s a good idea to:

  • discuss rain strategies with the venue

  • consider a compact indoor ceremony setup

  • keep your guest count in mind

The outdoor areas are lovely, but the weather can influence your options.

4. Affordable and Well-Equipped for Medium-Sized Groups

This venue is ideal if you’re looking for a budget-friendly destination wedding in Umbria without sacrificing comfort.
Casa Bruciata offers:

  • accommodation for medium-sized groups

  • a beautiful infinity pool

  • cozy common areas

  • a relaxed, home-like atmosphere

It’s not luxury—but it is warm, welcoming, and great value for money.

5. Helpful English-Speaking Staff

The staff here knows what they’re doing.
They speak good English, are extremely helpful, and ensure everything runs smoothly. You won’t get five-star hotel formality, but you will get genuine care, professionalism, and support—something couples really appreciate during a destination wedding.

6. Mountain Climate: Prepare for Cooler Temperatures

Casa Bruciata sits at a higher elevation, which means evenings can get chilly outside of July and August.
This is why the dinner is often set inside the glass house, which provides comfort and shelter without losing the surrounding views.

From a photographic perspective:

  • the sun dips behind the mountain quite early in the afternoon

  • this reduces golden hour time

  • but still allows for lovely, soft natural light

It’s something to keep in mind when planning your timeline.

This is not just a place—they are building something special, year after year.

Some of the key amenities include:

  • A swimming pool overlooking the hills

These spaces add variety to the wedding weekend and give guests time to relax and enjoy the property.

3. A Permanent Kitchen for Reliable, Delicious Food

You can expect:

  • fresh local ingredients

  • traditional Umbrian recipes

  • efficient service

  • no need for external catering logistics

This is a huge plus for destination weddings where timing, quality, and simplicity matter.

4. A Lovely Area for Dinner Al Fresco

Outdoor dinners are the heart of Italian summer weddings, and Podere Siliano offers a beautiful space designed just for that.
Surrounded by nature, flowers, and countryside silence, the al fresco dinner area creates the perfect atmosphere for:

  • long tables under the stars

  • fairy lights

  • intimate speeches

  • warm summer evenings

It’s one of the most charming parts of the entire property.

The gardens at Podere Siliano are a photographer’s dream.
The owners take pride in maintaining:

13. Borgo Castello Panicaglia

Intimate, lovely, efficient, and a great kitchen

Why Choose Borgo Castello Panicaglia for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding that blends rustic Umbrian charm with stylish, contemporary comfort, Borgo Castello Panicaglia is one of the region’s most appealing options. This beautifully restored borgo offers an inviting atmosphere, modern interiors, delicious food, and a warm, professional team—making it a fantastic choice for intimate and medium-sized celebrations.

This venue is very popular with couples from Netherland and recently from the USA, it is definitely one of the best Wedding Venues in Umbria when it comes to overall experience

1. A Perfect Blend of Rural Vibes and Modern Style

One of the most unique aspects of Borgo Castello Panicaglia is how it seamlessly combines countryside authenticity with modern aesthetics.
The exteriors still carry the charm of a historic Umbrian borgo, while the rooms and indoor spaces feel fresh, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. It’s ideal for couples who want the beauty of the countryside without sacrificing contemporary comfort.

2. Plenty of Rooms for Large Groups

The borgo has a generous number of rooms, allowing you to host a full wedding weekend with family and friends all staying together.
This creates a relaxed, cozy atmosphere where guests can connect, unwind, and enjoy the event as a shared holiday—one of the reasons destination weddings here feel so intimate.

3. Permanent Kitchen & Some of the Best Food in the Region

The venue’s permanent kitchen is a huge advantage, especially because the food at Castello Panicaglia is genuinely outstanding—one of our favorites in all of Umbria.

Expect:

  • local seasonal ingredients

  • modern takes on Umbrian traditions

  • beautifully plated dishes

  • consistent quality and smooth service

Your guests will talk about the meal long after the wedding.

4. A Professional, Experienced, and Super Helpful Staff

Planning a destination wedding requires teamwork, and the staff at Castello Panicaglia truly shines.
They are:

  • professional

  • well-organized

  • friendly

  • and genuinely invested in creating a smooth, stress-free event

From timeline management to guest logistics, they know how to run weddings beautifully.

5. Limited Plan B Options for Ceremony and Dinner

While the outdoor spaces are ideal for warm-weather weddings, the indoor Plan B for both ceremony and dinner is more limited.
If rain is a possibility, it’s essential to:

  • work with a wedding planner

  • consider potential tenting solutions

  • keep the guest count manageable

This venue is at its best when the celebration stays outdoors.

6. Ideal for Small and Medium-Sized Weddings

Borgo Castello Panicaglia is perfect for intimate to medium-sized groups.
Its layout, spaces, and overall vibe work beautifully for weddings that focus on atmosphere, connection, and relaxed elegance rather than very large numbers.

  • Our Experience at Borgo Castello Panicaglia:

We photograph weddings at Borgo Castello Panicaglia 5–6 times a year, and they always have the same beautiful vibe: calm, intimate celebrations shared with the people who matter most. Every time we arrive, we find guests relaxing by the pool, laughing together, often enjoying a gelato in the sun. The cocktail hour usually unfolds in the courtyard, with everyone gathering around the permanent bar for drinks and good conversation.
One thing we consistently notice here is the staff—waiters, bartenders, everyone on the team. They greet guests and suppliers with genuine smiles and kindness, and that energy really elevates the entire experience.

14. San Pietro in Valle

A medieval monastery along the Valnerina valley

Why Choose San Pietro in Valle for Your Destination Wedding in Umbria?

If you’re dreaming of a wedding surrounded by sacred history, untouched nature, and the mystical charm of ancient Italy, San Pietro in Valle is one of the most unique venues in Umbria. Set in the heart of the Valnerina valley, this former monastery from the year 1200 is immersed in forests, mountains, waterfalls, and medieval villages.

It’s a setting that feels spiritual, authentic, and deeply connected to the land—perfect for couples who want a wedding rich in atmosphere and meaning.

1. A Real 1200s Monastery Steeped in History

San Pietro in Valle is not a reproduction or a modern renovation—it’s a true monastery founded in the early Middle Ages, restored with a deep respect for original architecture and sacred art.
The rooms are simple, atmospheric, and full of ancient charm. You genuinely feel the history in the walls, the cloister, the frescoes, and the stone corridors.

For couples who want a venue with soul, this is a rare treasure.

2. Located in One of Umbria’s Most Beautiful Natural Areas

The monastery stands in the Valnerina valley, an area famous for:

  • the Cascata delle Marmore, one of Europe’s tallest waterfalls

  • scenic trails and outdoor activities

  • charming villages like Ferentillo and Arrone

  • some of the best black truffles in the world

  • wild forests and dramatic mountains

Your guests can easily turn the wedding trip into an adventure—hiking, rafting, exploring, tasting, and relaxing in one of the most authentic corners of Umbria.

3. Plenty of Rooms for Medium-Size Groups

San Pietro in Valle offers a good number of rooms, ideal for hosting medium wedding groups directly on-site.
Guests can enjoy the peaceful environment, slow mornings in the cloister, and walks through the gardens without needing transfers or shuttles.

4. External Catering Required

The venue does not have a permanent kitchen, so you will need to hire a catering company.
Luckily, Umbria offers excellent caterers familiar with the location, and the monastery’s layout works well for outdoor kitchens and service setups.

This also gives you flexibility to choose the style and menu that suits your taste.

5. Hiring a Wedding Day Coordinator Is Highly Recommended

Planning a wedding in a historical monastery comes with logistical details.
That’s why we strongly suggest hiring a wedding day coordinator—and fortunately, there is an excellent local plannerwho knows the venue inside out.
They’ll help with:

  • timeline

  • supplier coordination

  • setup logistics

  • ceremony flow

  • Plan B decisions

It makes the entire experience much easier and stress-free.

6. An Extraordinary Church for Catholic Ceremonies

If you're dreaming of a real Catholic wedding, you won’t find anything quite like this.
San Pietro in Valle has an incredible historic church, complete with Romanesque architecture, frescoes, and the quiet spiritual atmosphere only a millennium-old sacred place can offer.

It’s a rare privilege to marry in a church of this significance.

7. Beautiful Garden Celebrations With Mountain Views

The gardens around the monastery offer breathtaking views of the Umbrian mountains—an unforgettable backdrop for:

  • outdoor cocktails

  • symbolic ceremonies

  • portraits

  • relaxed moments with guests

The combination of ancient walls and wild landscapes makes the atmosphere truly unique.

8. Magical Al Fresco Dinner in the Cloister

Dinner in the ancient cloister is one of the most magical experiences this venue offers.
Surrounded by arches, stone walls, and candlelight, the ambience is romantic, intimate, and unforgettable.

But what about Plan B?

  • Dinner Plan B → tables are placed under the cloister gallery, which is beautiful but can only host a limited number of people.

  • Ceremony Plan B → there is a small indoor room, suitable for intimate groups but tight for larger weddings.

Because of this, San Pietro in Valle works best for small a
