Amalfi Coast Wedding Photographer – Mediterranean Elegance, Italian Glamour & Authentic Wedding Stories

A Place We Love Through Our Lens: Ravello, Positano & the Timeless Elegance of the Amalfi Coast

There is something about the Amalfi Coast that makes wedding photography feel completely different from anywhere else in Italy. After more than twenty years photographing weddings across the country, from the rolling hills of Tuscany to the shores of Lake Como, we have learned that every destination has its own personality. And the Amalfi Coast has one of the strongest identities of them all.

For us, wedding photography in Ravello, Positano, and Amalfi is not simply about spectacular views. It is about a certain way of experiencing Italian elegance. The atmosphere of a historic luxury hotel, a perfectly dressed couple enjoying a cocktail on a panoramic terrace, the reflections of the Mediterranean Sea, or a vintage convertible winding along the coastal roads. There is a sense of timeless Italian glamour here that we absolutely love.

Unlike Tuscany, where endless horizons and long golden sunsets often define the photographic atmosphere, the Amalfi Coast has a completely different relationship with light. The steep cliffs, dramatic mountains, and distinctive position of the coastal villages mean that direct sunlight can disappear behind the landscape surprisingly early, even while the sky remains bright.

This is something we know well from photographing weddings in the area, and it has shaped the way we approach our work here.

Rather than chasing the warm, romantic light of a Tuscan sunset, we embrace the sophisticated, sometimes moody atmosphere of the Mediterranean coastline. We love the deep blue of the sea, the architectural shadows, the elegant interiors of historic hotels, and the soft, directional light that falls across their terraces and gardens.

Our photographic vision on the Amalfi Coast naturally becomes a little more editorial, a little more cinematic, while remaining deeply rooted in authentic documentary storytelling.

Luxury Wedding Venues in Ravello, Positano & Amalfi: Places We Know and Love

One of the greatest advantages of working regularly as destination wedding photographers on the Amalfi Coast is our familiarity with its extraordinary wedding venues. Knowing the architecture, the gardens, the movement of the sun, and the practical challenges of each location allows us to concentrate on what matters most: the people and the atmosphere of the celebration.

Among the venues we know particularly well is Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, a remarkable former monastery overlooking the Mediterranean. We love the contrast between its historic cloisters, understated architecture, and contemporary luxury. Its intimate spaces, panoramic terraces, and beautiful coastal views offer an extraordinary setting for elegant, natural wedding photography.

In Ravello, Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, is another place that perfectly represents what we love about the Amalfi Coast. Its refined atmosphere, magnificent gardens, historic architecture, and iconic infinity pool overlooking the coastline create a setting that feels effortlessly sophisticated. We particularly enjoy the interplay between the hotel's quiet luxury and the spontaneous energy of a wedding celebration.

Villa Eva, also in Ravello, offers a more intimate and romantic atmosphere, with lush gardens and beautiful outdoor spaces. We love how its greenery, architectural details, and secluded setting create opportunities for natural portraits and relaxed celebrations.

Then there is Villa Astor, in Sorrento, one of the most extraordinary luxury wedding venues along the wider Sorrentine and Amalfi Coast region. Its spectacular position above the sea, historic interiors, and magnificent gardens create an atmosphere of old-world Italian glamour that feels almost cinematic.

Other iconic venues in the area include Villa Cimbrone, famous for its extraordinary gardens and Terrace of Infinity; Villa Rufolo, with its historic architecture and breathtaking views over Ravello; Palazzo Avino, known for its refined Mediterranean elegance; Le Sirenuse in Positano, an icon of Italian coastal luxury; and Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi, with its beautiful terraces and sophisticated seaside atmosphere.

Each of these places has a distinct personality, and we believe wedding photography should reflect that individuality rather than impose the same visual style on every celebration.

Villa Cimbrone & Villa Rufolo: Our Favorite Places for Wedding Portraits in Ravello

One of the experiences we particularly love offering our couples in Ravello is a short portrait session at Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo, when access and the wedding schedule allow it.

These two historic landmarks offer some of the most extraordinary photographic settings on the Amalfi Coast, but what fascinates us most is not simply the view.

At Villa Cimbrone, we love the sculptural architecture, the gardens, the long pathways, and the contrast between classical elegance and the dramatic Mediterranean horizon. Villa Rufolo offers a different atmosphere, with beautiful gardens, historic stonework, and architectural perspectives overlooking the coastline.

For us, these are places where our documentary approach meets a more refined editorial vision.

We don't believe in spending hours directing couples into artificial poses. Instead, we prefer a short, relaxed experience that allows them to enjoy these extraordinary surroundings while we create images that feel natural, sophisticated, and personal.

A beautiful dress moving through an ancient garden, an intimate moment beneath a stone archway, or a quiet embrace overlooking the sea can be far more powerful than an elaborate, staged portrait.

Mediterranean Light, Italian Glamour & Our Editorial Approach to Wedding Photography

The Amalfi Coast invites us to explore a different side of our photographic identity.

In Tuscany, we often work with warm countryside colors, vineyards, open landscapes, and the beautiful light of sunset. On the Amalfi Coast, we are more attracted to architectural elegance, dramatic contrasts, and the sophisticated atmosphere of Mediterranean life.

We love photographing our couples in beautiful hotel bars, on terraces overlooking the sea, in elegant gardens, or beside a classic Italian convertible. These settings create the perfect opportunity for couples to express the most refined version of themselves, without losing their spontaneity or personality.

There is something wonderfully cinematic about an impeccably dressed couple enjoying a drink at a historic hotel, or stepping out of a vintage car against the backdrop of Positano's colorful buildings.

We draw inspiration from fashion photography, classic Italian cinema, and the timeless glamour of the Mediterranean, but our approach always remains natural.

We want our photographs to look sophisticated without feeling overly constructed. Elegant, but never cold. Editorial, but still full of life.

And while we love these refined moments, we never forget that a wedding is ultimately about people. The laughter during aperitivo, the emotional speeches, the energy of a crowded dance floor, and the unexpected moments between friends and family are just as important to us as the most beautiful portrait.

Your Destination Wedding Photographers on the Amalfi Coast

We are Maurizio and Serena, the married photography duo behind Rellini Art Studio.

Since photographing our first wedding in 2001, we have documented more than a thousand weddings in Italy and around the world. Our experience has taken us to extraordinary destinations, but the Amalfi Coast remains one of the places where we feel our documentary and editorial approach comes together in a particularly distinctive way.

We know that planning a destination wedding in Ravello, Positano, or Amalfi involves much more than choosing a beautiful venue. The narrow roads, transfers between hotels, steep stairways, changing light, and logistics of the coastline all influence the rhythm of the celebration.

Our familiarity with the area allows us to work closely with wedding planners and couples to create a photography timeline that feels relaxed and realistic, without sacrificing the experience of the day.

Whether you are planning an intimate ceremony at a historic villa, a sophisticated celebration at a luxury hotel, or a multi-day destination wedding overlooking the Mediterranean, our goal remains the same: to create timeless photographs that capture the elegance of the place and the authenticity of the people.

Because for us, the Amalfi Coast is not just about spectacular landscapes.

It is about the atmosphere of an Italian summer, the sophistication of its historic hotels, the beauty of its gardens, the deep blue of the Mediterranean, and those spontaneous moments that make every wedding unforgettable.

Kind words from our couples

  • "Working with Maurizio & Serena was an absolute dream for our Tuscany wedding! They took the time to do a video call with us before we booked to make sure we were a good fit and then from their body of work we knew it was the style we were looking for. Both do an incredible job of making you feel comfortable, if anyone is a bit camera shy, they jump in and show you exactly what to do for the perfect shot. And to say we were in love with our welcome party and wedding photos would be an understatement. There are so many incredible photos it’s overwhelming in the best way! They not only captured my wife and my love they captured our guests so beautifully. Highly recommend this duo!! It was the absolute best experience and now we have photos I will cherish for a lifetime!!"

    Holly & Courtney

  • "Choosing Rellini Art Studio was the best decision we made for our wedding! They were absolutely phenomenal! When I first started looking for photographers, I wanted it all - I wanted candids, I wanted a little edginess with editorial styles, but at the same time I also didn’t want it to be too staged. Maurizio and Serena effortlessly did all of these things and more. Not only are they warm and easy to work with, but they have an incredibly calming presence on the day of, and also an exceptional eye for light, artistic angles, and direction. Their photography effortlessly tells a story, while still capturing the essence of the day, who we are, and the relationships with our family and friends. Our guests cannot stop telling us how we belong in a bridal magazine or on the cover of Vogue, and I truly cannot be more thrilled and happy with the results. The photos honestly speak for themselves - thank you for immortalizing such a milestone event our lives. I would recommend them 1000x over - they are the best photographers I’ve seen and worked with! Thank you!"

    Tim & Chloe

  • "What can I say? Our wedding photos are absolutely phenomenal. We genuinely cannot stop looking at them! Every single person we’ve shown them to has been in complete awe, with so many saying they look like they belong on the cover of a magazine. From the very beginning, Maurizio and Serena were an absolute dream to work with. They made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, kept the whole experience relaxed and fun, and somehow managed to capture every important moment without ever feeling intrusive. They also really listened to what we wanted, making sure the photography fit around the flow of our wedding rather than interrupting it. When we received the gallery, we were completely blown away. Not only are the photos beautifully composed, but they captured every emotion of the day so perfectly that looking through them feels like reliving our wedding all over again. We honestly have no idea how we’re going to choose which ones to frame, we want them all over our house! They made us feel like the best version of ourselves, and that is such a special gift. If you’re looking for photographers who are incredibly talented, professional, kind, and genuinely passionate about what they do, we cannot recommend Maurizio and Serena highly enough. They exceeded every expectation we had, and we will treasure these photos for the rest of our lives. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for giving us memories we’ll cherish forever. ❤️"

    Mia

  • "Maurizio and Serena were AMAZING! My husband and I are not people who are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. We rarely remember to even take photos when traveling. So having a team who knew how to not only capture the moment but was confident in posing us so we could be our most natural selves was important. And they delivered beyond my expectations!! Wow these photos are SO good, our family, friends and colleagues are all messaging us about how wonderful these have turned out and with such a quick turn. If you have the chance to book a smaller shoot for engagement or a welcome party I’d suggest it, it allowed us to grow comfortable and the wedding day dynamic was incredibly natural and fun. I’d recommend the Rellini Art Studio to anyone considering a wedding in Italy or even further away as this talent is not just found anywhere."

    Victoria

  • "Hiring Maurizio and Serena to photograph our wedding day was one of the best decisions we could have made. They are both so kind and easy to work with. They made us feel relaxed so that we could be our natural selves throughout the day. Additionally, we are so pleased with the photos and can’t stop admiring them. They are truly spectacular! We received the photos faster than promised with more than double the amount of photos promised. We are so grateful that we chose Rellini Art Studio to capture our love and happiness so naturally. We will cherish our photos forever. Thank you so much!"

    Alan & Megan

  • "Where do I even begin? From the moment we met this beautiful husband and wife team, Maurizio & Serena, we knew we were in the very best hands. They weren’t just photographers, they were artists, storytellers, and gentle souls who poured their hearts into every single moment of our magical wedding weekend in Tuscany. Their warmth, professionalism, and eye for detail were truly unmatched. They captured not just images, but emotions the laughter, the tears, the quiet moments, the joy all woven together into the most breathtaking story of our celebration. Every photo brings us right back to the magic of those days. Without them, the soul of our wedding would have been lost to memory. Thanks to their talent and care, we now have beautiful timeless treasures to relive that weekend for the rest of our lives. We are beyond grateful for their presence, their kindness, and their incredible work. They will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ♥️ Vaneza & Joaquin Rosado"

FAQ – Amalfi Coast Destination Wedding Photographer

Luxury, documentary and editorial wedding photography in Ravello, Positano, Amalfi and the Mediterranean coastline.

Why choose the Amalfi Coast for a luxury destination wedding in Italy?

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most extraordinary destinations in Italy for a luxury wedding. Its dramatic cliffs, historic villas, elegant hotels, Mediterranean gardens, and breathtaking sea views create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else.

What we particularly love about the Amalfi Coast is its timeless Italian glamour. Unlike Tuscany, where weddings are often surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, here the atmosphere feels more cinematic and sophisticated. Think beautiful hotel terraces, vintage convertible cars, elegant cocktail bars, and the deep blue of the Mediterranean.

For us, photographing weddings on the Amalfi Coast is about capturing this distinctive atmosphere while keeping the real emotions and spontaneous moments at the center of the story.

Which Amalfi Coast wedding venues do you photograph most frequently?

We work throughout the Amalfi Coast, particularly in Ravello, Amalfi, and Positano. Among the luxury wedding venues we know especially well are Caruso, A Belmond Hotel in Ravello; Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel; Villa Eva in Ravello; and Villa Astor in nearby Sorrento.

Each offers a different photographic experience.

  • Hotel Caruso, Ravello: We love its magnificent gardens, historic architecture, infinity pool, and refined atmosphere overlooking the Mediterranean.

  • Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel: A former monastery with beautiful cloisters, elegant terraces, and a fascinating combination of historic character and contemporary luxury.

  • Villa Eva, Ravello: An intimate venue surrounded by lush gardens, ideal for romantic celebrations and relaxed, natural wedding photography.

  • Villa Astor, Sorrento: An extraordinary historic residence with spectacular sea views, sophisticated interiors, and magnificent gardens.

Our familiarity with these venues helps us anticipate the light, understand their layouts, and create beautiful photographs without interrupting the natural rhythm of the wedding.

What are the most beautiful luxury wedding venues in Ravello, Positano and Amalfi?

Beyond the venues where we regularly work, the Amalfi Coast offers an extraordinary selection of luxury wedding locations.

In Ravello, Villa Cimbrone, Villa Rufolo, Palazzo Avino, and Hotel Caruso are among the most iconic settings, combining historic architecture, beautiful gardens, and panoramic views.

In Positano, Le Sirenuse, Villa TreVille, and Hotel Marincanto offer different interpretations of Mediterranean luxury, from glamorous hotel terraces to intimate seaside settings.

In Amalfi, Hotel Santa Caterina and Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel are particularly distinctive for their architecture, location, and sophisticated atmosphere.

We also photograph weddings in Sorrento and the surrounding coastline, where venues such as Villa Astor offer another beautiful interpretation of Italian coastal elegance.

Is Ravello or Positano better for a destination wedding?

Both are extraordinary, but they offer very different experiences.

Ravello feels quieter, more aristocratic, and more intimate. Its historic villas, magnificent gardens, and elevated position above the coastline create a sophisticated atmosphere that we particularly love for editorial wedding photography.

Positano is more vibrant, colorful, and unmistakably Mediterranean. Its dramatic vertical architecture, beachside atmosphere, and iconic hotels create a glamorous setting with a more lively coastal personality.

From a photography perspective, Ravello offers beautiful gardens, architectural symmetry, and refined settings, while Positano is especially inspiring for its colorful buildings, dramatic views, and distinctive Italian Riviera atmosphere.

Our advice is to choose the destination that best reflects the atmosphere you want your guests to experience.

How is wedding photography on the Amalfi Coast different from Tuscany?

This is one of the aspects we find most fascinating about photographing weddings in different parts of Italy.

In Tuscany, we often work with open landscapes, rolling hills, and long periods of warm golden-hour light. On the Amalfi Coast, the steep cliffs and mountains can cause direct sunlight to disappear much earlier, depending on the venue's position and orientation.

For this reason, our photographic approach changes.

Rather than relying on the romantic golden sunsets typical of Tuscany, we embrace the moody Mediterranean coastline, architectural shadows, sophisticated hotel interiors, and elegant gardens.

We love creating photographs that feel cinematic and editorial, capturing the distinctive glamour of the Amalfi Coast without losing the authenticity of the celebration.

Can we have wedding portraits at Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo in Ravello?

Yes, subject to the venues' access policies, opening hours, photography permissions, and any applicable fees.

We often suggest Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo to couples getting married in Ravello because both offer extraordinary settings for elegant wedding portraits.

Villa Cimbrone is famous for its magnificent gardens, historic architecture, and Terrace of Infinity overlooking the Mediterranean. Villa Rufolo offers beautiful gardens, medieval architecture, and panoramic views over the coastline.

We prefer keeping these sessions relatively short and relaxed, allowing couples to enjoy the experience rather than turning it into a long, staged photoshoot.

We can help coordinate the timing with your wedding planner so the portrait session fits naturally into the celebration.

What is the best time of year for an Amalfi Coast wedding?

Our favorite months for destination weddings on the Amalfi Coast are May, June, September, and early October.

During these periods, temperatures are generally more comfortable than in the hottest summer months, and the atmosphere can be particularly beautiful for outdoor celebrations.

July and August are also popular, but they can be very hot and crowded. We recommend carefully planning ceremony times, transfers, and outdoor photography sessions.

One important consideration is that sunset light behaves differently along the coastline. A terrace facing the sea may lose direct sunlight well before the official sunset because of the surrounding cliffs.

This is why knowing the venue and its orientation is particularly valuable when planning an Amalfi Coast wedding photography timeline.

Do you offer documentary and editorial wedding photography on the Amalfi Coast?

Absolutely. Our photographic approach combines authentic documentary storytelling with a refined editorial aesthetic.

We spend most of the wedding day working discreetly, observing genuine interactions, spontaneous emotions, and unexpected moments.

At the same time, we love the editorial possibilities offered by the Amalfi Coast: elegant hotel bars, Mediterranean terraces, vintage convertible cars, historic gardens, and sophisticated architectural settings.

We want our couples to look like the most refined version of themselves, without feeling that they are acting in a fashion campaign.

Our photography is elegant but natural, artistic but authentic, and always focused on the people rather than simply the location.

How much time should we dedicate to couple portraits on the Amalfi Coast?

For portraits at your wedding venue, 15–20 minutes is usually enough.

We believe couples should spend their wedding day celebrating with friends and family, not posing for hours.

However, if you would like photographs at a different location, such as Villa Cimbrone, Villa Rufolo, or the streets of Positano, we recommend allowing additional time for transfers, access, and walking between locations.

The Amalfi Coast has unique logistical challenges, including narrow roads, steep stairways, and heavy seasonal traffic.

We always prefer planning a realistic schedule rather than rushing between multiple locations.

Can you help us plan the photography timeline for our wedding in Ravello or Positano?

Of course. After more than twenty years photographing weddings, we know how important a well-planned timeline is, especially on the Amalfi Coast.

We generally recommend allowing approximately two hours for getting ready, around 90 minutes for the cocktail reception, and a short couple portrait session.

However, the most important consideration here is the geography.

Unlike an open Tuscan landscape, the Amalfi Coast's cliffs, mountains, and buildings can significantly affect the available natural light. We therefore consider the venue's orientation, ceremony location, season, and transfer times when helping couples plan their day.

We are always happy to collaborate with your wedding planner to create a relaxed schedule that works for both photography and the overall guest experience.

Do you photograph multi-day destination weddings on the Amalfi Coast?

Yes, and we particularly enjoy them.

Many international couples choose to celebrate over two or three days, with welcome dinners, boat excursions, wedding celebrations, and farewell gatherings.

A welcome party overlooking Positano, a boat trip along the coastline, or a relaxed aperitivo at a historic hotel can all become part of the wedding story.

These experiences allow us to photograph the more informal and spontaneous side of the celebration, creating a richer visual narrative than the wedding day alone.

We offer photography coverage for multi-day destination weddings throughout Ravello, Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, and the surrounding coastline.

Do you photograph weddings in Sorrento as well as the Amalfi Coast?

Yes. Although Sorrento is geographically part of the Sorrentine Peninsula rather than the Amalfi Coast itself, we regularly include it in our destination wedding photography coverage.

We particularly appreciate the elegant atmosphere of its historic villas, panoramic terraces, and luxury hotels.

Villa Astor is one of the most distinctive venues in the area, offering beautiful gardens, historic architecture, and spectacular views over the Bay of Naples.

We also photograph weddings in other destinations across Campania, depending on the couple's plans.

Are travel expenses included in your Amalfi Coast wedding photography packages?

Yes. We are based in Central Italy and travel throughout the country for destination weddings.

Our photography collections include travel expenses, accommodation, and transfers, so couples can plan their budget without unexpected additional travel costs.

We normally arrive in the area ahead of the wedding to allow enough time for travel and preparation.

Are Amalfi Coast wedding venues suitable for intimate weddings and elopements?

Absolutely! In fact, most of the weddings we photograph in Amalfi and Ravello are intimate celebrations, micro weddings, or elopements, sometimes with just a handful of guests, and occasionally with no guests at all.

We believe the Amalfi Coast is one of the most romantic destinations in Italy for couples dreaming of a small, meaningful wedding. Luxury venues such as Hotel Caruso, Anantara Convento di Amalfi, Villa Eva, and Villa Astor offer extraordinary settings for intimate ceremonies, although availability and minimum guest requirements vary by venue.

We particularly love photographing elopements in Ravello and intimate weddings on the Amalfi Coast because they allow couples to experience the destination in a more personal, relaxed way. A private ceremony overlooking the Mediterranean, a romantic walk through the gardens of Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo, followed by an elegant dinner for two or a few close friends, can be just as unforgettable as a large celebration.

From a photography perspective, these smaller weddings give us the freedom to focus on genuine emotions, beautiful architectural details, and the sophisticated Mediterranean atmosphere without the pressure of a packed wedding schedule.

For us, luxury is not about the number of guests. It's about the beauty of the experience, the intimacy of the moments, and the freedom to celebrate exactly as you wish.

How quickly will we receive our Amalfi Coast wedding photographs?

Our typical delivery time is approximately 7–20 days, depending on the wedding and photography collection.

When included in the package, we also provide a preview within 3–4 days.

Every selected photograph is delivered in both color and black and white, giving couples two complementary interpretations of their wedding story.

Our editing style preserves natural colors, beautiful skin tones, and the distinctive Mediterranean atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast.

Do you offer film wedding photography on the Amalfi Coast?

Absolutely! We offer film wedding photography on the Amalfi Coast, including Ravello, Positano, Amalfi, and Sorrento. Film has always been part of our photographic journey, and we love the timeless, nostalgic aesthetic it brings to Mediterranean weddings.

We shoot on 35mm and medium-format 6x6 film, creating photographs with beautiful grain, rich textures, and a distinctive analog character that perfectly complements the old-world Italian glamour of the Amalfi Coast.

We particularly love using film for intimate elopements, elegant portraits in historic gardens, romantic moments overlooking the Mediterranean, and the sophisticated atmosphere of luxury hotels such as Hotel Caruso and Anantara Convento di Amalfi.

Our analog wedding photography is primarily black and white, although color film is also available. Couples can choose between professionally developed and scanned negatives or beautiful fine art prints made in the darkroom.

Why choose Rellini Art Studio as your Amalfi Coast destination wedding photographers?

We are Maurizio and Serena, a married photography duo and the founders of Rellini Art Studio.

We photographed our first wedding in 2001 and have since documented more than a thousand weddings across Italy and internationally.

Our experience photographing weddings at venues such as Hotel Caruso, Anantara Convento di Amalfi, Villa Eva, and Villa Astor has given us a strong understanding of the area's architecture, light, atmosphere, and practical challenges.

But what we believe truly defines our photography is the balance between documentary authenticity and editorial elegance.

We love the glamorous side of the Amalfi Coast, its historic hotels, beautiful gardens, and Mediterranean lifestyle. Yet we never want our photographs to feel artificial or overly staged.
