Chianti Wedding Photographers — A Place We Know by Heart
We've travelled the world with our cameras, photographing extraordinary landscapes and beautiful stories. Yet there's something about the Chianti countryside that keeps inspiring us, no matter how many times we return.
We are Maurizio and Serena, and for more than 20 years we've been photographing weddings among the vineyards, wineries and historic villas of Chianti, between Florence and Siena. Over time, these places have become much more than wedding venues to us. We know their atmosphere, their little hidden corners, the way the landscape changes with the seasons and, most importantly, how the Tuscan sun transforms everything throughout the day.
There is something about photographing weddings in the wineries of Chianti that we never get tired of. Perhaps it's the endless rows of vineyards, the warm sunlight falling across ancient stone walls, or the relaxed atmosphere of a celebration where good wine, beautiful landscapes and genuine emotions naturally come together.
For more than 20 years, we've photographed weddings throughout the Chianti countryside, between Florence and Siena. Along the way, we've developed a special connection with its historic wine estates, from Dievole and Le Filigare to Castello di Vicchiomaggio and Castello La Leccia. We love the character of these places, their relationship with the land and the unmistakable feeling of authentic Tuscany.
As photographers, we're fascinated by the way the Tuscan sun transforms the landscape throughout the day. We use the geometry of the vineyards, the textures of old architecture and the beautiful evening light to create elegant, editorial images that feel completely natural.
But what we love most about winery weddings is their atmosphere. The laughter during a wine tasting, long aperitivos overlooking the hills, friends gathering around a table, spontaneous dancing beneath the stars. There's something wonderfully effortless about celebrating in a place where wine and hospitality have always been part of everyday life.
Our approach is simple: let the landscape inspire the photographs and let the people create the story. We combine an editorial eye with documentary storytelling, capturing the beauty of Chianti without interrupting the moments that make your wedding truly yours.

The best wedding venues in Florence and Chianti
Why is Chianti one of the best places to get married in Tuscany?
Chianti is the Tuscany so many couples dream about: rolling hills covered in vineyards, ancient stone villages, cypress-lined roads, historic castles and beautiful wineries where wine has been produced for generations.
Located between Florence and Siena, the Chianti countryside offers an extraordinary setting for destination weddings in Italy. Here, a wedding can become an entire experience, with wine tastings, relaxed welcome dinners, traditional Tuscan cuisine and unforgettable evenings surrounded by family and friends.
As wedding photographers who have worked extensively throughout Chianti, we particularly love the combination of natural beauty and authentic Italian atmosphere. The landscape provides magnificent backgrounds for editorial portraits, while the relaxed rhythm of countryside celebrations creates endless opportunities for genuine documentary photography.
What are the best winery wedding venues in Chianti?
Some of our favourite wedding venues in Chianti are working wineries, where vineyards, historic architecture and excellent wines become part of the wedding experience.
Dievole Winery, near Vagliagli: A beautiful wine estate surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. We photographed Tim and Chloe's wedding here, including a wine-focused experience that perfectly reflected the spirit of the region. Dievole is particularly appealing to couples looking for an elegant yet relaxed countryside celebration.
Le Filigare, near San Donato in Poggio: A working winery with a wonderfully authentic, rural atmosphere. We photographed Martin and Sarah's wedding here, a celebration shaped by their love of wine, the surrounding vineyards and the warm August sunshine.
Castello di Vicchiomaggio, near Greve in Chianti: A historic castle and winery overlooking the Chianti hills, with beautiful gardens and panoramic views. An excellent choice for couples dreaming of a classic Tuscan castle wedding.
Castello di Meleto, near Gaiole in Chianti: A magnificent medieval castle and wine estate, combining historic architecture, gardens and vineyards. Its distinctive interiors and countryside setting offer wonderful photographic possibilities.
Castello La Leccia, near Castellina in Chianti: A historic estate surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. We photographed Holly and Courtney's wedding here, a beautiful two-day celebration full of authentic emotions and relaxed Tuscan atmosphere.
The best Chianti winery wedding venue depends on your guest count, preferred style, accommodation needs and whether you want a private villa, a working vineyard or a historic castle.
Why are winery weddings in Chianti so special?
Getting married at a winery in Chianti means celebrating in a place where wine, landscape and local traditions are inseparable.
Unlike a conventional wedding venue, a working winery offers an authentic connection to the territory. Guests can discover the vineyards, taste locally produced wines and enjoy traditional Tuscan food in the very landscape where the ingredients are grown.
For destination weddings, this creates a wonderfully immersive experience.
From a photographic perspective, wineries are especially inspiring. The geometric lines of the vineyards, the textures of ancient stone buildings, the warm colours of the countryside and the constantly changing sunlight provide beautiful opportunities for both editorial portraits and natural documentary images.
And when the celebration begins, the atmosphere is often wonderfully informal: long aperitivos, laughter around the tables, spontaneous dancing and that unmistakable feeling of an Italian summer evening.
What is the best time of year to get married in Chianti?
Late May, June and September are among our favourite months for a wedding in Chianti.
During May and June, the countryside is generally lush and green, the vineyards are growing and the days are long. September brings warmer, golden tones to the landscape, with the added atmosphere of the grape harvest season.
July and August are also popular for destination weddings, particularly among couples who love warm summer evenings and outdoor dinners. However, daytime temperatures can be very high, sometimes exceeding 35°C during heatwaves.
For summer weddings, we usually recommend a late-afternoon ceremony, plenty of shade and a relaxed timeline that avoids keeping guests outdoors during the hottest hours.
October can be beautiful too, with autumn colours and a more intimate atmosphere, although the likelihood of rain generally increases.
How does the Tuscan sunlight influence wedding photography in Chianti?
The sunlight is one of the reasons we love photographing weddings in Chianti.
The landscape changes dramatically throughout the day. Morning light reveals the soft greens of the vineyards, strong afternoon sunshine creates beautiful geometric shadows across historic buildings, and the final hours before sunset transform the countryside into layers of warm gold.
After photographing weddings in Tuscany for more than two decades, we've learned how to work with these changing conditions rather than against them.
We love using the directional sunlight to create depth, interesting compositions and sophisticated editorial portraits. At the same time, we're always looking for the subtle moments when beautiful light meets genuine emotion.
The result is photography that feels deeply connected to the landscape without losing the authenticity of the people and the celebration.
Why is Rellini Art Studio's photography style particularly suited to weddings in Chianti?
Our approach combines documentary wedding photography with an editorial eye, and we believe this balance works beautifully in the Chianti countryside.
The region offers extraordinary natural scenery, but we don't want the landscape to overwhelm the story of your wedding.
Instead, we use vineyards, architecture, countryside views and Tuscan sunlight as elements of our compositions, creating photographs that feel elegant, natural and genuinely connected to their surroundings.
We know how to use strong afternoon light, where to look for beautiful shadows and how to take advantage of the warm colours that appear around sunset.
Most importantly, we believe that your wedding should be lived, not staged.
We create sophisticated portraits with minimal direction, while spending most of the day documenting spontaneous emotions, real interactions and the atmosphere of your celebration.
It's the meeting point between editorial aesthetics and authentic Italian storytelling.
Can we take beautiful wedding photographs in the vineyards without spending hours posing?
Absolutely. In fact, we prefer to keep wedding portrait sessions short and enjoyable.
The vineyards of Chianti provide beautiful natural backgrounds, especially when the light becomes softer towards sunset.
Rather than organising an elaborate photoshoot, we usually suggest stepping away for approximately 10–15 minutes when the light and wedding schedule allow.
We'll guide you gently, paying attention to the landscape, composition and natural movement, but without asking you to perform complicated poses.
Our goal is to create beautiful, magazine-worthy portraits while allowing you to spend as much time as possible enjoying your wedding and celebrating with your guests.
The vineyards are part of your story, not a reason to disappear from your party for an hour.
What are the best experiences to organise for wedding guests in Chianti?
One of the greatest advantages of planning a destination wedding in Chianti is the opportunity to turn the celebration into a multi-day Italian experience.
Wine tastings are an obvious favourite. Guests can discover Chianti Classico wines, visit historic cellars and learn about the local Sangiovese grape.
Other wonderful experiences include vineyard tours, traditional Tuscan cooking classes, olive oil tastings, countryside lunches and visits to charming villages such as Greve in Chianti, Radda, Castellina and Panzano.
We particularly love welcome dinners at wineries, where guests can relax over local wines and food before the wedding day.
From a photography perspective, these informal gatherings are fantastic opportunities to document spontaneous moments and the relationships between friends and family.
Often, the welcome party photographs become some of the most personal images of the entire wedding experience.
Is a wine tasting a good idea for a wedding welcome party in Chianti?
Definitely. A wine tasting is one of the most authentic and enjoyable ways to welcome international guests to Tuscany.
Many wineries offer guided tastings that can be combined with a vineyard visit, cellar tour or traditional Tuscan dinner.
For couples who love wine, this experience can also become a meaningful part of their wedding story.
At Dievole, for example, we photographed Tim and Chloe's wine-focused wedding celebrations, where the setting and local wine culture played an important role in the atmosphere.
A relaxed wine tasting or welcome dinner gives guests the chance to meet, reconnect and begin enjoying the celebration before the wedding day itself.
We recommend arranging transportation in advance, especially when the winery is located along smaller countryside roads.
What is the difference between getting married in Chianti and Val d'Orcia?
Both regions offer extraordinary Tuscan landscapes, but they have different personalities.
Chianti is characterised by vineyards, wooded hills, olive groves, historic wineries and medieval villages. Its landscape feels intimate and layered, with winding roads and beautiful countryside estates hidden among the hills.
Val d'Orcia is famous for its more open, sculptural landscapes, rolling fields, isolated farmhouses and iconic cypress-lined roads.
For couples who love wine culture, vineyard celebrations and easy access to Florence and Siena, Chianti is often a particularly appealing choice.
For those dreaming of vast panoramas and a more minimalist countryside aesthetic, Val d'Orcia offers something different.
As wedding photographers experienced in both regions, we love them for different reasons. The best choice depends on the atmosphere you imagine for your wedding.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day in Chianti?
Rain doesn't have to compromise beautiful wedding photography.
Many historic castles, wineries and countryside estates in Chianti offer indoor spaces with stone walls, wooden beams, elegant rooms and distinctive architectural details.
Overcast skies can also provide beautifully soft, flattering light for portraits, particularly when combined with the textures and colours of historic Tuscan architecture.
Our advice is to choose a venue with an indoor alternative you genuinely love and to discuss a realistic rain plan with your wedding planner.
We always adapt our photography to the weather, looking for the best available light and authentic moments rather than forcing a particular visual style.
A wedding in Chianti can be beautiful in sunshine, clouds or rain.
Is Chianti suitable for a multi-day destination wedding?
Absolutely. In fact, we believe Chianti is one of the best regions in Italy for a wedding celebration that extends over several days.
Many countryside estates and wine resorts offer accommodation and spaces for different events, allowing couples to organise welcome dinners, pool parties, wine tastings, wedding celebrations and farewell brunches.
For guests travelling from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia or elsewhere, this creates a much richer experience than a single-day wedding.
We love photographing multi-day celebrations because they allow us to tell a more complete story, from the excitement of the first reunions to the spontaneous energy of the wedding party.
Our photography collections can be tailored to cover several days, maintaining a consistent documentary and editorial approach throughout the celebration.
Why choose experienced wedding photographers who know the Chianti region?
Knowing Chianti makes a real difference when photographing a wedding here.
Every venue has its own character, its own light and its own relationship with the surrounding landscape.
We know how quickly the sun can disappear behind the hills, how to use the shade of ancient stone buildings during the hottest hours and how to plan portraits around the best available light.
With more than 20 years of experience photographing weddings in Tuscany, we've developed a deep familiarity with the region's historic villas, wineries and countryside estates.
We can help couples plan a photography-friendly timeline without turning the wedding into a production.
Our approach is calm, discreet and focused on creating beautiful photographs while allowing the celebration to unfold naturally.
