Indian Wedding Photography in Italy – A Journey Through Culture, Traditions & Emotions
Indian weddings have always held a special place in our journey as destination wedding photographers. Over the years, photographing Indian weddings in Italy has given us the privilege of discovering an extraordinary world of traditions, vibrant colors, meaningful rituals, and celebrations filled with energy and emotion.
We are Maurizio and Serena, the photographers behind Rellini Art Studio, and after photographing more than 1,000 weddings around the world, we can confidently say that Indian weddings offer one of the most fascinating experiences for our documentary and editorial approach to photography.
What we particularly love about Indian destination weddings in Italy is that they rarely feel like a single event. Instead, they become an entire journey, often unfolding over two or three days, bringing together families, friends, cultures, and generations.
From the intimate atmosphere of the Mehndi ceremony to the joyful energy of the Sangeet, the excitement of the Baraat, and the emotional significance of the wedding ceremony, every celebration has its own personality and rhythm. Not every wedding follows the same traditions, and we love discovering the unique meaning behind each couple's celebrations.
For us, photographing an Indian wedding means documenting much more than beautiful outfits, spectacular decorations, and extraordinary venues. It means understanding the relationships between people, anticipating meaningful moments, and capturing the emotions that connect every part of the celebration.
From Indian Weddings in Italy to a Seven-Day Celebration in Goa and Mumbai
Our experience photographing Indian weddings in Italy eventually took us all the way to India, where we had the extraordinary opportunity to document a seven-day Indian wedding celebration between Goa and Mumbai.
It was one of the most memorable experiences of our photographic careers.
Seven days immersed in Indian wedding traditions, surrounded by an incredible variety of ceremonies, celebrations, people, and emotions. From the different atmospheres of Goa and Mumbai to a spectacular final reception attended by more than 3,000 guests, the experience gave us an even deeper appreciation of the richness and diversity of Indian wedding culture.
It also reinforced something we have always believed: the most powerful wedding photographs are not necessarily the grandest ones, but those that reveal the genuine emotions behind the celebration.
Even during an event with thousands of guests, we are constantly looking for those fleeting, intimate moments: a parent's expression, a spontaneous embrace, the laughter between friends, or the quiet anticipation before a ceremony.
These are the moments that transform a spectacular event into a deeply personal story.
Indian Destination Weddings in Tuscany, Lake Como, Umbria & Across Italy
Italy offers an extraordinary setting for Indian destination weddings, combining magnificent historic architecture, beautiful landscapes, exceptional hospitality, and an atmosphere of timeless elegance.
From luxury villas overlooking Lake Como to historic estates in Tuscany, medieval castles in Umbria, and spectacular coastal venues along the Amalfi Coast, every destination offers a different interpretation of an Indian wedding celebration.
We particularly love how Indian wedding traditions interact with Italian architecture and landscapes. The colors of traditional outfits against Renaissance villas, the energy of a Baraat in a historic courtyard, or the elegance of a wedding reception beneath the stars create extraordinary photographic opportunities.
But photographing multi-day Indian weddings also requires experience, flexibility, and an understanding of how celebrations evolve.
With several events taking place across different locations, sometimes involving hundreds of guests, we know how important it is to work discreetly, anticipate key moments, and coordinate naturally with wedding planners and other professionals.
Our approach combines documentary Indian wedding photography with a refined editorial aesthetic, preserving the authenticity of every ritual while creating elegant, timeless images.
Grand Celebrations. Intimate Stories.
Perhaps what we love most about Indian weddings is the beautiful contrast between their extraordinary scale and their deeply personal meaning.
A wedding may last three days, involve hundreds of guests, and feature spectacular celebrations, but at its heart it remains a story about two people and the families coming together around them.
We believe the role of an experienced Indian wedding photographer in Italy is to understand both dimensions: the grandeur of the celebration and the intimacy of its emotions.
Having photographed Indian weddings in Italy and experienced an extraordinary seven-day celebration in India, we bring not only photographic experience but also genuine curiosity, cultural sensitivity, and enthusiasm for these beautiful traditions.
Because for us, an Indian wedding is never just a wedding day.
It is a journey through culture, family, heritage, and love — and we feel incredibly fortunate every time we are invited to tell that story.
Kind words from our Indian couples

FAQ – Umbria Wedding Photographer
Destination wedding photography in Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto and across Umbria, Italy.
Experience, Local Knowledge & Wedding Venues
Why choose Rellini Art Studio as your Umbria wedding photographer?
We are Maurizio and Serena, a married photography duo born and raised in Umbria, where we have spent more than twenty years documenting weddings and love stories.
Since photographing our first wedding in 2001, we have captured more than 1,000 weddings across Italy and internationally, with the majority of our work taking place in Umbria. This experience has given us an extraordinary familiarity with the region's historic castles, countryside villas, medieval villages, and luxury wedding venues.
But our connection with Umbria goes far beyond photography. This is where we grew up, where we live, and where our photographic vision developed. We know the landscape, the light, the seasons, and the atmosphere of this beautiful region in a way that only locals can.
Our approach combines authentic documentary storytelling with refined editorial photography, creating elegant, natural, and timeless images without turning your wedding into a staged photoshoot.
Where are you based in Umbria, and do you photograph weddings near Assisi and Perugia?
We are based in Umbria, in the area between Assisi and Perugia, very close to Assisi, and we photograph weddings throughout the region.
We regularly work in Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto, Orvieto, Gubbio, Spello, Montefalco, and the Lake Trasimeno area, as well as in smaller villages and private countryside estates.
Being local means we know much more than the famous wedding venues. We understand the roads, the geography, the seasonal light, and the practical details that can make a destination wedding easier to organize.
For couples traveling from abroad, we are always happy to share our knowledge of Umbria and help them make the most of their Italian wedding experience.
Which wedding venues in Umbria do you photograph most frequently?
We have photographed weddings at many of the region's most beautiful venues, and some have become places we genuinely consider second homes.
Among the venues where we work most frequently are Castello di Petrata, Castello di Rosciano, Castello di Montignano, Borgo Colognola, and La Torre di Pila.
We also regularly photograph celebrations at Niki's Resort, Monastero Santa Margherita, Castello di Titignano, Borgo Bastia Creti, Villa Pianciani, Abbazia San Pietro in Valle, and Castello di Solfagnano.
Each venue has its own character. Some offer magnificent panoramic terraces and formal gardens, while others feel like intimate medieval villages surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills.
Knowing these places so well allows us to anticipate the light, understand the layout, and capture spontaneous moments without constantly interrupting the celebration.

How many weddings have you photographed at Castello di Petrata in Assisi?
We have photographed approximately 100 weddings at Castello di Petrata since 2013, making it one of the venues we know best in all of Italy.
During the summer wedding season, we sometimes feel that we practically live there!
We know its beautiful gardens, the panoramic views of Assisi, the best locations for portraits, and how the light changes throughout the day.
What we particularly love is the atmosphere of its outdoor celebrations: relaxed aperitivo in the gardens, magnificent sunsets over the Umbrian countryside, and unforgettable dinners beneath the fairy lights.
Our long relationship with Castello di Petrata also means we know the people behind the venue and how the different spaces work throughout the wedding day.
For couples planning a destination wedding at Castello di Petrata, this familiarity allows us to work naturally and confidently while giving them the freedom to enjoy every moment.

Do you have experience photographing weddings at Castello di Rosciano?
Absolutely. Castello di Rosciano is one of the places most closely connected to our story as destination wedding photographers in Umbria.
We photographed our first international destination wedding there in 2006, and since then we have returned for around 70 weddings.
We love its medieval architecture, beautiful terraces, and spectacular views across the countryside toward Assisi and Perugia.
The atmosphere becomes particularly magical during summer evenings, when the tables are illuminated, the sky turns dark blue, and the castle comes alive with music and celebration.
After so many years working here, we know practically every corner of the property, including how to use its architecture and changing natural light to create elegant, authentic photographs.

What makes Castello di Montignano and Borgo Colognola special for wedding photography?
Both venues offer beautiful interpretations of the Umbrian countryside, but their personalities are quite different.
Castello di Montignano is particularly inspiring for its historic architecture, relaxed atmosphere, and panoramic rooftop. We love taking couples up to the rooftop around sunset, when the surrounding hills become beautifully illuminated and the landscape creates a wonderful setting for natural portraits.
Borgo Colognola, near Perugia, is a place we have photographed weddings at since 2009. Its historic village atmosphere, stone architecture, and intimate spaces create the feeling of a private Italian celebration.
We love how both venues combine elegance with authenticity, allowing us to capture sophisticated photographs without losing the spontaneous energy of the wedding.
Rellini art studio+1
What other luxury wedding venues do you recommend in Umbria?
Beyond the venues where we work most frequently, Umbria offers an extraordinary selection of historic castles, exclusive villas, restored monasteries, and countryside estates.
Some of the places we particularly appreciate include Castello di Solfagnano, Castello di Reschio, Villa Pianciani, San Pietro in Valle, Castello di Titignano, Monastero Santa Margherita in Todi, Relais Monte Solare, and Borgo Castello Panicaglia.
We believe the best venue depends on the atmosphere you want to create.
For an elegant castle wedding, the Assisi and Perugia countryside offers beautiful options. For more intimate celebrations, restored hamlets and private villas can provide a wonderfully personal experience.
Our advice is always to choose a venue that reflects your personality, rather than simply following the latest wedding trends.
Is Umbria a good alternative to Tuscany for a luxury destination wedding?
We believe Umbria is one of Italy's most interesting destinations for couples looking for a more intimate and authentic wedding experience.
Tuscany is internationally famous for its vineyards, rolling hills, and Renaissance villas. Umbria shares much of that natural beauty, but has a different personality: quieter, less ostentatious, and deeply connected to its medieval heritage.
Here, you can celebrate in magnificent historic castles, enjoy extraordinary Italian food and wine, and experience beautiful landscapes without always being surrounded by the busiest tourist destinations.
For us, Umbria represents a quieter form of luxury: elegant, authentic, relaxed, and deeply Italian.
And because we grew up here, we particularly love helping international couples discover this side of Italy.
Film Photography, Content Creation & Our Photographic Style
Do you offer film wedding photography in Umbria?
Absolutely! We offer analog film wedding photography throughout Umbria, including Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto, and the region's most beautiful historic wedding venues.
Film photography has always been part of our story. We began photographing weddings on film, long before digital cameras became the standard, and we still love its distinctive aesthetic.
Today, we shoot with 35mm and medium-format 6x6 film cameras, creating photographs with beautiful grain, rich textures, and timeless tonal qualities.
We particularly love black-and-white film for its classic, artistic character, although color film is also available.
The historic castles, medieval architecture, olive groves, and soft countryside light of Umbria provide extraordinary settings for analog wedding photography.
Couples can add film photography to their digital wedding collection and choose between professionally developed and scanned negatives or traditional fine art prints produced in the darkroom.

Is film photography suitable for weddings at Castello di Petrata, Castello di Rosciano and other Umbrian venues?
Yes, and we believe these historic venues are particularly beautiful when photographed on film.
At Castello di Petrata, we love using analog cameras to capture the soft countryside light, the textures of the old buildings, and intimate moments between the couple and their guests.
At Castello di Rosciano, the medieval architecture and atmospheric interiors work wonderfully with black-and-white film.
The historic stone buildings of Borgo Colognola and the elegant architecture of Castello di Montignano also create beautiful opportunities for timeless analog portraits.
We usually combine film with our digital documentary coverage, allowing us to preserve the spontaneity of the celebration while creating a carefully selected collection of artistic analog images.
Do you offer a wedding content creator service in Umbria?
Yes! Alongside our wedding photography, we offer a dedicated wedding content creator service in Umbria, available for celebrations at Castello di Petrata, Castello di Rosciano, Castello di Montignano, Borgo Colognola, and other venues throughout the region.
Our content creator, Aigulya, works exclusively with our team and shares our philosophy of natural, authentic storytelling.
While we focus on creating timeless wedding photographs, she captures the behind-the-scenes atmosphere through mobile videos, spontaneous clips, and social-media-ready content.
The service includes four edited reels, two longer videos, and the original clips, with delivery within approximately 24 hours.
We love this combination because couples can enjoy their wedding almost immediately through video content while waiting for their professionally edited photographs.
Can we book your wedding content creator without booking photography?
Yes. Our wedding content creator service in Umbria can be booked independently, subject to availability.
However, couples who combine content creation with our wedding photography benefit from a more coordinated experience and preferential package pricing.
Our team is used to working together, so photographers and content creators can document the celebration without getting in each other's way.
This is particularly valuable during emotional moments such as the ceremony, speeches, and first dance, when we want the experience to remain as natural and uninterrupted as possible.
Do you offer wedding videography and drone photography in Umbria?
Yes. In addition to photography and content creation, we collaborate with a selected network of professional wedding videographers, offering different cinematic styles and price options.
We are also licensed drone pilots and offer aerial wedding photography at suitable venues, subject to local regulations, permissions, weather, and safety conditions.
We particularly love aerial photography at countryside estates such as Castello di Petrata, Castello di Montignano, and Castello di Titignano, where the architecture and surrounding landscapes can be beautifully appreciated from above.
Drone photography is included in many of our collections, whenever it can be performed legally and safely.

What is your wedding photography style?
Our style is a combination of documentary wedding photography and editorial elegance.
For most of the wedding day, we work discreetly, observing and capturing genuine emotions, spontaneous interactions, and everything that makes each celebration unique.
At the same time, we love beautiful compositions, sophisticated portraits, and the way natural light interacts with historic architecture.
We want our couples to look elegant without feeling posed, and our photographs to feel artistic without losing their authenticity.
After more than 1,000 weddings, we have learned that the most meaningful images often happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
Do you pose couples during their wedding photographs?
Very little.
We believe a wedding should be enjoyed rather than turned into a long photography session.
Most of our images are completely spontaneous. During couple portraits, we may offer a little guidance when needed, but we prefer natural movement and genuine interactions rather than elaborate poses.
Usually, 15–20 minutes is enough for a beautiful couple session.
We love using the architecture and landscape of Umbrian wedding venues to create refined portraits while allowing couples to spend as much time as possible with their guests.
Planning Your Destination Wedding in Umbria
What is the best time of year to get married in Umbria?
Our favorite months for weddings in Umbria are May, June, September, and early October.
Spring offers green landscapes, flowering gardens, and generally pleasant temperatures. September is particularly beautiful for its warm colors, softer light, and relaxed countryside atmosphere.
July and August can also be wonderful, especially for evening celebrations, although temperatures can become very high.
Having grown up in Umbria and photographed weddings here for more than twenty years, we know how important it is to consider the season, the position of the sun, and the characteristics of each venue when planning a wedding.
What is the best time of day for wedding photography in Umbria?
We love the final hours of daylight, when the Umbrian countryside becomes beautifully warm and atmospheric.
However, we don't believe beautiful wedding photographs should depend entirely on golden-hour light.
We also love the strong contrasts of the midday sun, the soft illumination of shaded gardens, and the dramatic atmosphere of cloudy days.
At venues such as Castello di Petrata and Castello di Montignano, knowing exactly when and where the sun sets helps us suggest the ideal time for a short portrait session.
We always adapt our photography to the actual conditions rather than forcing the wedding into a rigid schedule.
Can you help us plan our wedding photography timeline in Umbria?
Absolutely. With more than two decades of experience, we are happy to help couples and wedding planners create a relaxed, realistic timeline.
We generally recommend approximately two hours for getting ready, around 90 minutes for the cocktail reception, and a short couple session when the light is most flattering.
For summer weddings, we often suggest planning outdoor ceremonies later in the afternoon and enjoying dinner after sunset, when temperatures are more comfortable.
Our goal is to create the best photographic opportunities without compromising the experience of the wedding.
Do you photograph intimate weddings and elopements in Umbria?
Yes! We love intimate weddings, micro weddings, and elopements throughout Umbria.
The region offers extraordinary possibilities for couples looking for a more personal celebration, from private villas overlooking Assisi to historic castles, secluded gardens, and beautifully restored medieval villages.
For smaller weddings, we particularly appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to focus on genuine emotions and personal connections.
Whether you are celebrating with 15 guests or exchanging vows privately, our approach remains the same: authentic documentary photography with a refined editorial touch.
Do you photograph multi-day destination weddings in Umbria?
Yes, and they are among our favorite celebrations to document.
Many international couples choose Umbria for two-, three-, or four-day wedding experiences, including welcome dinners, wine tastings, pool parties, the wedding itself, and farewell gatherings.
Venues such as Castello di Petrata, Borgo Colognola, Borgo Bastia Creti, and Borgo Castello Panicaglia can provide wonderful settings for extended celebrations, depending on their accommodation and event arrangements.
We love photographing these experiences because they allow us to get to know the guests and capture the more informal, spontaneous side of the celebration.
What if it rains on our wedding day in Umbria?
After photographing more than 1,000 weddings, we have experienced practically every possible weather condition!
Rain doesn't mean you can't have beautiful wedding photographs.
Historic Umbrian venues often offer atmospheric interiors, covered spaces, and architectural details that can become extraordinary photographic settings.
We particularly appreciate venues that offer well-designed indoor alternatives for ceremonies and receptions.
For example, Castello di Petrata has an elegant glasshouse, providing a beautiful alternative for celebrations when the weather is unpredictable.
Our experience allows us to adapt quickly, use available light creatively, and keep the atmosphere relaxed even when plans change.
Rellini art studio
Can you recommend local wedding planners and suppliers in Umbria?
Of course. Having worked in Umbria for more than twenty years, we have developed relationships with many talented wedding planners, florists, caterers, musicians, and other professionals.
We believe that choosing suppliers who know the venue and understand the local logistics can make a significant difference to the wedding experience.
We are always happy to share recommendations based on the type of celebration you are planning, the venue you have chosen, and the atmosphere you want to create.
Wedding Photography Packages & Delivery
How much does wedding photography in Umbria cost?
We offer different wedding photography collections, depending on the duration of coverage, the number of events, and the additional services you would like to include.
Our packages can be customized with analog film photography, drone photography, professional videography, and wedding content creation.
Because we are based in Umbria, local celebrations do not require the same travel arrangements as weddings in distant destinations.
We recommend contacting us for our latest price guide and availability, so we can suggest the most suitable collection for your wedding.
Will Maurizio and Serena personally photograph our wedding?
Yes. When you book Rellini Art Studio's photography service, Maurizio and Serena are your photographers.
We don't send less-experienced photographers to replace us or outsource our signature photographic approach.
We have worked together for many years, and this allows us to document weddings from two complementary perspectives while maintaining a consistent style.
We believe having two experienced photographers is particularly important for capturing the different emotions, perspectives, and spontaneous moments happening simultaneously throughout the day.
Rellini art studio+1
How many wedding photographs will we receive?
The number of photographs depends on the duration and nature of the celebration.
For a typical full-day wedding with around ten hours of coverage, we often deliver approximately 1,000 carefully selected and edited photographs.
Every selected image is delivered in both color and black and white, giving couples two complementary interpretations of their wedding.
We focus on delivering a complete visual story rather than limiting the gallery to a small number of images.
How quickly will we receive our wedding photographs?
We believe couples should be able to relive their wedding while the emotions are still fresh.
Our typical turnaround time is 7–20 days, depending on the photography collection and the duration of the celebration.
When included in the package, we also provide a preview within approximately 3–4 days.
All selected photographs are professionally edited with natural colors, carefully balanced skin tones, and a timeless aesthetic that respects the authentic atmosphere of the wedding.
Rellini art studio
How far in advance should we book our Umbria wedding photographer?
We recommend contacting us as soon as you have confirmed your wedding date and venue, especially for popular summer weekends.
Because Maurizio and Serena personally photograph our weddings, our availability is naturally limited.
However, we sometimes have availability for shorter-notice celebrations, particularly during weekdays or outside the busiest wedding months.
The best way to check is simply to send us your date, venue, and a few details about your plans.
Why is your experience photographing more than 1,000 weddings important?
Experience makes an enormous difference, especially during a wedding where moments happen once and cannot be repeated.
We have photographed more than 1,000 weddings, most of them in Umbria, and have worked in virtually every kind of lighting, weather, and logistical situation.
We know how to anticipate emotional moments, adapt to unexpected changes, work discreetly during ceremonies, and create elegant photographs even in challenging conditions.
But perhaps the most important thing we have learned is how to make people feel comfortable.
We want our couples to enjoy their wedding without worrying about photography, trusting that every meaningful moment is being documented naturally.
Named WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS OF THE YEAR at the EWPC 2024 in Bodrum, named among the 24 best photographers in Italy by Junebug, winners of the Moscow International Photo Award, chosen best wedding photographers in Tuscany and Umbria by Brides Magazine, we specialize in authentic destination weddings in Tuscany, Umbria, Lake Como, Amalfi Coast.
