Timeless Wedding Photography in the Heart of Chianti

Where Editorial Elegance Meets

Documentary Authenticity

Having photographed over 1,000 weddings together, Maurizio and Serena bring a wealth of experience to celebrations across Tuscany, Umbria, the Amalfi Coast and Lake Como. Tuscany, in particular, holds a special place in their work. From the vineyards and historic estates of Chianti to the timeless landscapes of the Val d’Orcia, and the art and architecture of Florence and Pisa, they know the region intimately and understand how to photograph each setting at its most beautiful.

There is a particular beauty to a wedding in Chianti, Tuscany. Ancient estates set among vineyards, secluded villas at the end of cypress-lined roads, intimate winery weddings, and a landscape shaped by a light that is unmistakably Tuscan.

This is also home. Being based in the area has given us an intimate knowledge of Chianti — its landscape, its changing light, its quiet corners, and many of its most beautiful wedding venues. We know when the sun falls softly across the vineyards, where the evening light lingers, and how to make the most of each setting without ever allowing photography to interrupt the natural rhythm of the day.
Our work feels intrinsically connected to this landscape. As an editorial photographer in Tuscany, we approach each celebration with a sensibility that is refined yet effortless, balancing considered compositions with honest, unscripted moments. Nothing overly staged, nothing that feels removed from who you are.

For us, a destination wedding in Chianti is about atmosphere as much as beauty: long tables beneath the open sky, warm evenings among the vines, laughter carrying through an old Tuscan villa, and the golden light slowly giving way to night. Our photographs are created to preserve that feeling — authentic, timeless and quietly elegant, with the warmth and ease that make Chianti unlike anywhere else. On a personal level, they were an absolute joy to work with.

Chianti Wedding Photographer FAQ

Why choose a local Chianti wedding photographer?

Choosing a local Chianti wedding photographer means working with someone who already understands the area, its venues, its light and the logistics of a destination wedding in the Tuscan countryside.

We are Maurizio and Serena, the husband-and-wife team behind Rellini Art Studio. We are based in Central Italy, between Tuscany and Umbria, and Chianti is one of the areas where we regularly photograph destination weddings.

Being local makes a real difference. We know how the light changes across the Tuscan hills, where the sun will set behind the vineyards, how long it actually takes to move between locations and how wedding days work at many of the estates, castles and wineries in the area.

Instead of arriving in Chianti for the first time on your wedding day, we arrive somewhere that already feels like home.

Are you based near Chianti?

Yes. We are based in Central Italy, between Tuscany and Umbria, and regularly work throughout the Chianti countryside, Florence and Siena.

This gives our international couples the experience of a destination wedding photography team combined with the practical advantages of hiring photographers who are already based in the area.

There are no international flights required for us to reach your wedding, and our knowledge of Tuscany also means we are familiar with many local venues, planners and wedding suppliers.

For couples travelling from abroad, having a wedding photographer based near Chianti can make planning considerably easier.

Do you know the wedding venues in Chianti?

Yes. After more than 20 years photographing weddings in Tuscany, we know many of the most beautiful Chianti wedding venues, from private villas and historic castles to wine estates surrounded by vineyards.

We have photographed weddings at venues such as Quercia al Poggio and Le Filigare and have extensive experience throughout the Tuscan countryside.

We are also familiar with venues and wine estates such as Castello di Vicchiomaggio, Vignamaggio, Dievole, Castello di Meleto and other properties throughout Chianti.

Knowing a venue allows us to work quickly and naturally. We can anticipate the best light, identify beautiful locations for portraits without taking you away from your guests for too long and adapt when weather or timings change.

What are the best places to get married in Chianti?

Some of the best places to get married in Chianti are located between Florence and Siena, particularly around Greve in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and the surrounding countryside.

The region offers an extraordinary variety of wedding locations: historic castles, Renaissance villas, intimate countryside estates and working wineries surrounded by vineyards.

For couples dreaming of the classic Tuscany experience, we particularly love venues where the celebration can move naturally between different spaces — perhaps a ceremony overlooking the hills, aperitivo in a garden, dinner among olive trees or in a courtyard, and dancing inside a historic villa or wine cellar.

The best Chianti wedding venue is ultimately the one that reflects the experience you want to share with your guests.

What are your favorite Chianti wineries for weddings?

Chianti is one of our favorite areas in Tuscany because many wineries combine beautiful landscapes with historic architecture and an authentic connection to the region.

Some Chianti wineries for weddings that we particularly love include Quercia al Poggio, Dievole, Castello di Vicchiomaggio, Vignamaggio, Castello di Meleto and Castello di Ama.

Quercia al Poggio, for example, is surrounded by vineyards and has an elevated position that creates beautiful light and sunset views. It also offers several very different photographic settings within the same property, which makes it possible to create a varied wedding story without spending the day travelling between locations.

For couples coming to Italy for a destination wedding, celebrating at a winery is also a wonderful way to give guests an experience that feels unmistakably Tuscan.

Is a winery a good Chianti wedding venue?

Absolutely. A winery can be an exceptional Chianti wedding venue, especially for couples who want their wedding to feel connected to the landscape and culture of Tuscany.

Vineyards naturally provide beautiful scenery for ceremonies and portraits, while many Chianti wine estates also have historic villas, gardens, courtyards and cellars that allow different parts of the wedding to take place in completely different environments.

From a photography perspective, we particularly love wineries because the landscape changes throughout the day. The atmosphere during a bright afternoon ceremony can become completely different during golden hour and again after sunset, when long tables, candles and string lights transform the property.

When is the best time to get married in Chianti?

Late spring through early autumn is the most popular period for weddings in Chianti. May and June offer long days and beautiful spring landscapes, while September and early October can provide wonderful light and comfortable temperatures.

Summer weddings can also be spectacular, particularly when the schedule takes the heat into consideration and portraits are planned closer to sunset.

As photographers who regularly work in Tuscany, we always consider the season, orientation of the venue and sunset time when discussing the photography timeline with our couples.

In Chianti, twenty or thirty minutes can make an enormous difference to the quality and character of the light.

Why is Chianti perfect for a destination wedding?

Chianti offers many of the things international couples imagine when dreaming about getting married in Italy: vineyards, olive groves, medieval villages, historic castles, exceptional food and wine and rolling Tuscan landscapes.

It also offers something particularly valuable for destination weddings: an opportunity to turn the wedding into a multi-day experience.

Many couples rent a villa or estate and spend several days with their closest friends and family, combining the wedding with welcome dinners, wine tastings, pool days and relaxed dinners under the stars.

It means your wedding becomes more than one beautiful day — it becomes part of your guests' experience of Tuscany.

Can you help us choose the best locations for wedding photos in Chianti?

Yes. Local knowledge is particularly useful when deciding where and when photographs should happen.

Rather than creating a long photo session that takes you away from your wedding, we prefer to work with the locations already surrounding you.

A vineyard may look spectacular shortly before sunset. A courtyard might work beautifully in harder afternoon light. A panoramic terrace may become magical for ten minutes as the sun disappears behind the Tuscan hills.

Because we know the landscape and have photographed many weddings in the area, we can work around the light rather than forcing your wedding day around a photo shoot.

What is your photography style for Chianti weddings?

Our photography combines documentary storytelling with editorial elegance.

For most of the wedding day, we work unobtrusively, photographing genuine interactions, emotions, movement and everything happening around you. When appropriate, we introduce an editorial element through refined portraits, composition and our use of light.

The result is photography that feels natural and spontaneous while still having the visual impact and elegance of an editorial.

Chianti is particularly suited to this approach because there is already so much visual character in the landscape. We don't need to manufacture Tuscany — we simply need to photograph you naturally within it.

Do you photograph international destination weddings in Chianti?

Yes. Destination weddings are a major part of our work, and we regularly photograph international couples getting married in Tuscany and throughout Italy.

Having photographed more than 1,200 weddings during over 20 years, we are accustomed to multicultural celebrations, multi-day events and working alongside international wedding planners and local Italian suppliers.

For couples organizing their wedding from another country, our familiarity with Chianti and Tuscany can be especially useful because we already understand the area and how destination weddings here work.

Have you photographed real weddings in Chianti?

Yes. Chianti is an area we know well and have photographed many times.

Our portfolio includes real weddings at Chianti wedding venues such as Quercia al Poggio and Le Filigare, as well as celebrations throughout the Florence and Siena countryside.

We believe seeing complete real weddings is particularly important when choosing a photographer. A beautiful portfolio image shows what someone can create for a moment; a complete wedding gallery shows whether they can tell the story consistently from preparations through ceremony, dinner and dancing.

Why choose Rellini Art Studio as your Chianti wedding photographer?

We combine something that is particularly valuable for a destination wedding in Tuscany: international wedding experience with genuine local knowledge.

We have been photographing weddings for more than 20 years and have documented over 1,200 celebrations in Italy and around the world. At the same time, we are based here in Central Italy and know Tuscany, its wedding venues and its landscapes intimately.

We are not travelling to Chianti because it is a fashionable wedding destination. It is part of the area in which we live and work.

That local knowledge helps us anticipate light, understand venues and logistics, collaborate with local wedding professionals and solve problems quickly — while our experience allows us to photograph the day calmly without turning your wedding into a photo shoot.

Our goal is simple: to let you experience your wedding fully while we create photographs that feel spontaneous, elegant, cinematic and unmistakably yours.

How can we book you as our Chianti wedding photographer?

We accept a limited number of weddings and work exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are planning a wedding at a Chianti wedding venue, winery, private villa or castle, contact us with your wedding date, venue and a little about what you are planning.

We would love to hear your story and show you complete galleries from weddings photographed in Tuscany and Chianti.
